Do Social Media Platforms Work For Direct Bookings?

Absolutely yes! Social media platforms are an excellent way of obtaining direct bookings for your short stay accommodation. Social media platforms are designed to attract and retain users to stay online for as long as possible. Consequently, businesses want to sell their products on these platforms. The platforms themselves are making it easier and easier for you to attract your ideal customers.  In fact, most of what you can do is absolutely free! How great is that?

Which Social Media Platforms?

There are a number of social platforms around but, despite all your best intentions, you can’t be great at all of them. It makes much more sense to be really good at one or two platforms, rather than okay at all of them.

Choose your primary platform (or two) wisely:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram (owned by Facebook)
  • YouTube (owned by Google)
  • Pinterest
  • Linkedin
  • Twitter
  • TikTok

Logically makes enormous sense to firstly concentrate on Facebook, which is the biggest social media platform. Secondly, YouTube, who are owned by the biggest search engine. But if you know that your ideal guest spends time on other platforms, go for it. Therefore, if you are going to spend time creating content you want to make sure it’s seen, right?

Attracting Your Ideal Guest Via Social Media Platforms

If you know who your ideal guest is, then you should have a good idea about how you should talk to them, what you should say, and what to show them.

Use your Facebook Page or your YouTube Channel to talk to your guest and show them your property with all its great facilities. Additionally, don’t forget to show them what else there is around the property that they may be interested in, for example:

  • Restaurants
  • Cafes
  • Shopping centres
  • Tourist attractions

Send Your Lookers To Where They Can Become Bookers

After you have chatted to your ideal guest, and shown them your property, you can ask them to go and check the availability and book. Simply send your guest directly to wherever your booking engine is hosted. This could be on your free Channel manager site, or on your own website.

Remember, don’t cause friction by having too many links between where they see a particular property, and where they can book that property. Use direct links wherever possible, and make sure that those links are always working correctly.

People Buy From People

Finally, don’t be too impersonal in your content because this is a great time to be chatty, and show that you are human too. Make your potential guests feel welcome before they book, and they will be more likely to book with you. If they feel as though they already know you, perhaps they will trust that you will be a great host for their stay.

Before you start creating any content, save yourself loads of time by making sure that you know who your ideal guest is.
